Since 20 years, my research focuses on the neurobiology of mood disorders and their responses to antidepressant treatments. A main goal is to understand the neural bases associated to the antidepressant responses in order to develop novel therapeutics for affective disorders. My work particularly focus on gaining a clearer understanding of the physiology and pharmacology of brain monoamine neurotransmitters and how these neurotransmitter systems are affected by established and novel antidepressant strategies. To this end, I utilize a wide range of techniques including in vivo electrophysiology, behavioural analysis and immunocytochemistry.
